Data Logging

Data logging is an important part of an automated system. Keeping historical records of process data gives operators great power in improving process efficiency. Data logging can be achieved as simply as using a paper chart recorder to record things like pH or flow or as complex as implementing a full blown SCADA system to record and trend an unlimited number of process variables. Wastech has a solution for both extremes and everything in between.

The digital age is making paper chart recorders less attractive for recording data. Sometimes this cannot be avoided since many local jurisdictions still require a paper copy of process data such as discharge pH from a pH neutralization system. Wastech has pH paper strip chart recorders in stock for quick delivery.

Digital data loggers are much more reliable than paper chart recorders and present the data being logged in a familiar format such as CSV files that can be viewed and plotted in Microsoft Excel. Even if a paper chart recorder is required in a system, many of our customers include a digital data logger as well. There are many ways to transfer this data including Compact Flash memory cards and directly over an Ethernet connection. Paper chart recorders can store 30 days of data on one roll of paper, while digital data loggers can store many years of data on a memory card or computer hard drive.
